TO: Interested Parties
FROM: Louis J. Free, Chairman, Codes Amendment Subcommittee
DATE: September 15, 2011
SUBJECT: 2012 International CODE COUNCIL'S FAMILY OF CODES
code proposals will be accepted until MARCH 30, 2012
This correspondence is to inform you that the State Codes and Standards Committee, Codes Amendment Subcommittee, in conjunction with the Office of the State Building Inspector, is starting the process of reviewing the 2012 International Code Council's Family of Codes for the next Connecticut code cycle. The codes under review are the following:
2012 IBC International Building Code
2012 IMC International Mechanical Code
2012 IPC International Plumbing Code
2012 IEBC International Existing Building Code
2011 NEC National Electrical Code (NFPA 70)
2012 IECC International Energy Conservation Code
2012 IRC International Residential Code
The Subcommittee will also consider proposals regarding the 2012 International Fire Code.
Please be advised that the Codes Amendment Subcommittee has established
a procedure for the submittal of code changes to assist in identifying
necessary changes to the 2012 International Code Council's Family of
Codes. The Subcommittee will only consider code change proposals that
are on the proper form-any proposal not on the proper form will be
returned without action.
The Codes Amendment Subcommittee is requiring that individuals who have
previously submitted code change proposals to the 2009 International
Code Council's Family of Codes to please review your original request
based on the 2012 code requirements. If you still would like the CAS to
consider the code change, resubmit the request using the 2012 code
language and section numbers on the Connecticut Proposed Code Change
Form.
The Connecticut Proposed Code Change Form must be used for any code
change proposal and submitted to the Committee on or before Friday,
March 30, 2012. Thank you for your interest in participating in the
Connecticut code change and adoption process.
