Membership
Welcome to The Connecticut Building Officials Association. There are four different memberships to the Association. Please read the descriptions below. To become a member, please follow the instructions indicated.
Active membership:
An active member is any person licensed within Connecticut whose primary duties are the enforcement of Connecticut Building Codes and related ordinances. This includes building officials and consultants who work directly with Connecticut building codes.

Associate membership:
An associate member may consist of firms, companies, Architects, Engineers, Home Inspectors, Plumbers, Electricians, Mechanical contractors and related tradesman required to work with Connecticut Building Codes and adhere to specific industry-requirements.

Honorary Membership:
An honorary member may be conferred upon any person as an honorarium for outstanding service to the Association. Such person shall hold no elected office, have no voting rights nor be subject to payment of dues. Nominations for honorary member shall be submitted to the Executive Board in writing at least 30 days (30) prior to any regularly scheduled meeting. A favorable report by the Executive Board and a majority vote of the Corporation shall be necessary to elect.
Life Membership:
Upon request, any active member or associate member in good standing, who reaches age sixty-two (62), retired, no longer gainfully employed as a code official, and has (10) years of active membership, shall be eligible for election to life membership. If elected, the applicant will be afforded the same voting classification as previously held.
