Submitted by admin on Mon, 09/20/2010 - 08:48The Structural Engineers Coalition of Connecticut (SEC-CT) would like to understand the regional industry’s standard practice as it relates to the inspection of wood and light gauge framing components that are subjected to live loads, component and cladding wind loads, wind-force-resisting-system loads, or seismic-force-resisting-system loads. Your feedback will help SEC-CT to understand whether any code modifications to align expectations with standard practice are necessary for the upcoming CT Building Code edition. Results of this survey will be posted on the SEC website.

Pool Requirements
Submitted by admin on Thu, 06/26/2008 - 14:55...those pools from big box stores are popping up everywhere again this year. I have a form letter that’s addressed to ‘resident’ which so far has gotten positive results. There’s always the angry resident who acts like I’m the one that put it in for him and I should be the one getting him/her the fence and putting it up, before the big weekend party. I lean towards the convincing, rather than the threatening route to start off with, warning them of the dangers along with the legal ramifications and giving them a deadline to get things in order, explaining what’s available at our office.
